As more opportunities for a safe return to normalcy arise, The Basketball Embassy is slowly bringing back in-person programming with its partners around the San Antonio community.

Last week, TBE’s Youth Ambassador Program was on campus at SAMMinistries for the first time since the pre-pandemic era, providing an hour of instruction, exercise and fun for kids and parents alike.

“We are extremely excited and humbled at the opportunity to get back out to SAMM and work with our Youth Ambassadors on site and in person,” TBE president Chris Dial said. “It has been a long time and we look forward to hearing basketballs bouncing on the court out there and seeing the smiles on those kid's faces.”

The turnout for the session was higher than expected, and TBE was ready for the challenge with experienced instructors Eric Bitoni and Shannon Villanueva on site. Three members of the Our Lady of the Lake University basketball team also volunteered their time to help support TBE’s staff.

For a brief look at the first in-person session in over a year, check out the video below.

You can support TBE’s efforts to return to in-person programming for at-risk youth around the city by making a donation through our website. The Basketball Embassy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and donations are one of the key ways we can continue to effect positive change in the San Antonio community and around the world.
